Tutorial - Importing RaceChrono sessions

Importing RaceChrono Sessions

Last update: 30 November 2023

RaceChrono is a mobile app lap timer and can export session data in CSV format.  These CSV files can be imported in to MyRaceLab and used to analyse and compare your sessions from MyRaceLab and other sources.

This makes it possible to import all of your historical RaceChrono sessions in to MyRaceLab.

MyRaceLab supports RaceChrono CSV file version 3.

Step 1 – Exporting from RaceChrono

Using RaceChrono on Android or iOS device, select the session you wish to import to MyRaceLab.

Select EXPORT and choose CSV v3 (.csv) format.

Select Whole Session to export (note some versions of RaceChrono restrict the length of session to export)

Select Add to queue.

Repeat the process for all the sessions you want to export, navigate to the Export Queue and select Start.
RaceChrono will process the sessions and create the CSV files on your device.  You need to Share the files to a folder on your device, cloud storage or email them to yourself.

Step 2 - Importing to MyRaceLab

You can import the RaceChrono CSV files to your MyRaceLab account using the Upload Centre on either the web or mobile app.

Refer to Upload Centre guide.

1.  Select Upload Session Data from the menu then Upload Data tab.  In the mobile app, tap through to Select Files to Upload

2.   Select Other Files and choose RaceChrono. A file browser opens and you can select one or more files. Then click Done.

3.   If the files are valid RaceChrono files they will appear in the Selected file list. File types that are not recognised will show an error.

  • Select Upload Files to send the CSV files to the MyRaceLab server.
  • Once uploaded, the files will move from Selected to Processing tab which shows the status of the file processing.

4.   When the MyRaceLab data processing is complete the user will be notified that there are sessions ready to be assigned in the Session Assignment page.

  • If an Existing Session relating to the new data already exists the user can choose to Assign to the existing session, or create a New Session
  • If the new data does not relate to an existing session the user can create a New Session

5.   Creating new sessions will open a window to name the session and select a vehicle, track and track conditions.

Viewing the Session

When the session data processing and save is complete, the session will appear in the Career Screen (Hint: In the Career Screen slide down to refresh).
