Introduction

The Garmin Glo 2 Bluetooth® external GPS and GLONASS receiver provides improved accuracy and update rate than the standard 1Hz GPS built in to smart phones.  This will improve lap and sector timing accuracy as well as race line analytics.  The device should be positioned with full view of the sky (for example on dashboard or rear window).

iPhone Setup

The Garmin Glo 2 will improve accuracy and increase update rates on iOS devices to 2-3Hz.

Connecting the Glo 2 to MyRaceLab iOS is as simple as pairing the device in the iOS Bluetooth settings.

  1. Turn on the Glo 2 within a few meters of the iPhone
  2. Open iOS Bluetooth Settings
  3. Enable Bluetooth and browse the list of devices available to connect.
  4. Select Garmin Glo 2 # (followed by a unique device ID) and wait for device to connect.

In the MyRaceLab app you can confirm that the Glo 2 is sending GPS information to the phone by selecting RECORD SESSION and seeing the GPS Location tile.  The update rate is shown on the GPS Connected tile.  If the value is 2Hz or above, the iOS device is receiving location data from the Glo 2.
